Math Expectations
GRADES
Your grade is based on the average of the following:
HOMEWORK (10 points each assignment…30% of OVERALL GRADE)
Homework will be given EVERY DAY (with the exception of test days). Usually the student will have time to begin the assignment during class. However, it is very likely that 30 to 45 additional minutes will be required at home/study hall to finish the assignment.
Homework is due the following day after it is assigned. On rare occasions, the deadline may be altered by the instructor. All homework is corrected in class and is worth a total of 10 points. If a student does not receive 8 points on the homework assignment, he/she may have one extra day to make corrections and submit the paper with no penalty. However, the highest score that can be received is 9 out of the 10 points possible. No extensions for homework will be allowed, unless a student is ill from school. Any late papers will not have the opportunity to have corrections made for a possible better score.
At the end of the grading period, the accepted homework papers will be averaged to calculate the homework percentage. This percent will be approximately 30% of the overall grade.
ASSESSMENTS (70% of OVERALL GRADE)
If you feel that you cannot afford a notebook for this class, please see me. I have a few extra notebooks on hand for a small fee. ($1.00)
***Quizzes, Tests and the Notebook Checks will count towards approximately 70% of the overall grade.***
For example: If a student who is absent on Wednesday, the homework normally due on Wednesday is due the day the student returns (Thursday). The assignment due Thursday is then granted one day and so is due on Friday. Upon returning to school, the regular work is due at the regular times.
Students should plan to make appointments with the teacher to make up any missed tests or quizzes WITHIN the make-up time frame.
Students are also responsible for the notes that were taken in class the day they were absent. This can be achieved by borrowing another classmate’s notebook and copying the notes into their own notebook. If this is not done points will be taken away come time for the Notebook Check.
